~ Table prayer from Luther’s Small Catechism (Psalm 145:15-16)
I love my husband, my daughter, my family, being a Lutheran. I enjoy cooking, hunting for good deals, vintage Pyrex, springtime, fresh tomatoes from my own garden, singing solid hymns, finishing a cozy book. I’m a small-ish town girl turned rural girl, a Michigander turned North Dakotan, a new pastor’s wife.
About This Blog
Welcome! One of my favorite hobbies is cooking–from spaghetti to shrimp etouffee. I’ll admit to making boxed mac n’ cheese on occasion, but I really have fun trying out new recipes and unusual ingredients. It’s a necessary hobby, I suppose, but that’s why I try to make it interesting.
My first blog, Bringing Home the Brakebush, focused on commonly available seminary co-op ingredients and delicious ways to use them. Meat in Due Season continues to present delicious recipe ideas without the limitations of the co-op.
About the Recipes
My recipes come from all sorts of places–family recipe card boxes, grease-splattered cookbooks, newspaper clippings, the latest issue of Cook’s Illustrated, and yes, even Pinterest. A few of them are even my own concoctions, although usually I just take an existing recipe and tweak it a little to meet my tastes (and pantry contents). Regardless of the source, I try to give credit where it’s due. Please let me know if you notice a gaping error–or if you’d like to share a tasty new recipe for me to try!
